So lucky to have found this 19th century, heart-shaped padlock (working) clasp pendant in 9ct yellow gold. It is becoming harder to find the larger version in yellow gold rather than rose.
These heart-shaped padlocks were popular during the 19th c. and into the early 20th c. Part of the sentimental jewelry trend, heart-shaped lockets were often gifted as a token of love. They served two purposes, one decorative, as a charm or pendant. Or two, it opens and closes joining the two ends of a chain (bracelet/necklace) together.
