Dimensions & Details

  • The inside circumference is 6 1/2 inches and it is 1.2 inches wide. It can be worn loosely like a bangle or in a more fitted fashion i.e. works well on a variety of wrists.
  • The cuff is made from high-quality, genuine American alligator in an amethyst purple glaze. The brooch/buckle is made from antique paste stones.

Origin

  • England

Period & Hallmarks

  • Georgian (circa late 18th c/early 19th c) unmarked.

Condition

  • The cuff is new. The paste buckle is in good condition. There are surface scratches, a few very small chips, the stones have a greyish-blue tint, and minor signs of wear/age as one would expect from an antique piece.

We have combined two of our favorite things: exotic skins and antique paste jewelry. This particular cuff was custom made from high quality, top grade alligator skin and is in an amethyst glaze. It is paired with an antique (circa late 18th c/early 19th c) paste buckle from the Georgian Period.

The pastes were hand-cut by a highly skilled craftsman for this buckle. The stones are all original, with no replacements, but they are not in perfect condition. They have some surface scratches and a slight grey-blue tone. We like the aged look of the buckle and think it is a nice contrast against the pristine look of the glazed alligator and the hand-engraved, rose colored metal band at the center. It is a one-of-a-kind, custom made piece

This is for a single cuff. Each is sold individually. Originally a pair of buckles, there are two currently available, it is possible to purchase the pair and wear one on each arm in Coco Chanel fashion.
